Day 17 SF to LA on the Coast Starlight (31st August 2015)

Long day this one! Mainly due to the train being delayed at Sacramento on its way in for 2 hours. Eventually got into LA at 10.20 last night a bit later than scheduled though it was easy to get a taxi to the hotel.

The trip down was pretty and we even saw a whale when we met up with the coast north of Santa Barbara. 

It is incredibly dry in California at the moment (4 year drought) and you can see in the pictures just how dry it is. There were signs in one town thanking the fire fighters.
